Why did Piggy share his dreaded name with Ralph in Chapter One?

In my opinion, Piggy needed the chance to share, and he believed he could trust Jack with that information. Offering this information to Ralph is a statement of trust and friendship. Note, Piggy grins while Ralph laughs..... he simply wants him to keep it a secret.
