Why can't Piggy help collect the fire logs in chapter 10?

Question

is it that Piggy cant help carry fire logs because he doesn't have his glasses on?

Piggy is not only blind by this point but he has asthma which prevents physical work.

I have asthma too. And I don't have glasses like Piggy does. Though I'm deaf too. I have hearing aids and they help a lot with my hearing.
