explain this quote "i know they didnt come for the conch" ralph. What did they come for? What does what they failed to take and what they took symbolize?

They came for the glasses and left the conch. The conch had been replaced as a symbol of power by the ability to make fire and hunt. Jack's tribe no longer needed to call an assembly. Jack had usurped Ralph's position without any organized vote, and that's because things were no longer organized, nor civilized.
