In "Song of Myself," Whitman depicts America as more than a place; he depicts it as an ideal—a place where dreams and goals have no boundaries. He illustrates America as a place of equality and opportunity, a place where people live their lives with virtue and goodness. "Song of Myself," also gives us a glimpse into the poet himself; the way he loves his county; how America is considered a huge part of his own identity as a person. Whitman sees the goodness of out country, and he is PROUD to be an American.
