King Lear

What are the causes of King Lear’s madness? Provide specific examples from the text.

I already said that he was betrayed by his daughters. What else? I need min. 3 points :)

I think betrayal and a sense of loss of identity play a part. Lear sees both the folly of his ways and a sense that he was never a good judge of character. He also felt that his identity had been stripped away.
