Kate Chopin's Short Stories

The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin

Both "The Story of an Hour" and "The Yellow Wallpaper" were written in the 1890's. How would you compare the themes of the two stories? Which story do you prefer, and why?

Both stories have to do with women’s' identity and self-esteem. Both marriages seem defined by males and rather forced upon the women. Both seem to be struggling to free themselves from the identity thrust upon them by a patriarchal culture.. I prefer The Yellow Wallpaper. It is creepy and open to all kinds of interpretations.
