Kate Chopin's Short Stories

Main idea and thesis statement for "Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin?

Hello!

I need to come up with a main idea and thesis statment for the story "Story of an Hour".

The main idea needs to be short and I was thinking something along the lines of how sometimes the only way to be truly free is death. Sounds dark but I think it applies to the story well, but I need something short that also connects with the thesis.

For the thesis, I am choosing the examine the symbols heart disease and the open window so I need the thesis to connect with that somehow. Maybe something like how Chopin used the symbols heart disease and open window to symbolize entrapment and freedom?

Thanks for the help!

I might consider a thesis around the assumption that all women were expected to be happy in their marriage and "love" their husbands.
