Jack London was a writer who espoused the ideas of naturalism. Like other authors that Chris loved (Thoreau and Emerson) London wrote about the majesty of nature. London wrote that truth and beauty can be found in the natural elements.  Chris was obsessed with this very romantic view of nature.
