The Native Americans' negative feeling and comments regarding Chris' actions and subsequent death seem perfectly warranted, in that most of the comments the book addresses are those that question Chris' lack of preparation. Chris was certainly ill-prepared, that is inarguable. He also lacked sufficient experience to weather the unexpected events that occur in the Alaskan wild.
