Chris wrote letters to the people he met along the
road. In one of these letters he thanked Wayne
Westerberg for all that he did for him and for being so
good to him (33). How do we let people know how
much they mean to us? Why do you think Chris was
so touched by Wayne?
Chris was quite well mannered, and in sending his letters of thanks or simply reaching out, he showed his appreciation of etiquette, as well as his good heart. Unfortunately, letters and thank you cards seem to have become a thing of the past, replaced by a quick email or text message...... things that are totally impersonal.
Westerburg gave Chris a shot.... he gave him an opportunity to prove himself..... he gave Chris a family.
