Saul and Benjamin

When Saul’s mother says to his grandmother, “We’ll take this rice that cost him his life and we’ll sell it and buy him a coffin and he will have a proper burial. Not out here. Not stuck in some hole in the earth.”Discuss what really cost Benjamin his life and what is being illustrated about his mother here.

Grandmother had wanted to bring Benjamin to God's lake where they make a type of rice. Benjamin's mother lashes out at grandmother over her son's death. In her grief she blames grandmother for bringing Benjanin to this cold place. Benjamin actually died of Tuberculosis caught at the government school.
