Saul feels broken because of the school. Ironically it ois not God that saves him but hockey. Saul emotionally turned himself off at this school. He read books and tried to became emotionless in the school. His only respite was Father Leboutillier and the freedom that hockey gave. Saul developes as a person but only because of hockey.
