Why is it so traumatic for Saul to have his hair cut off? What does it represent? Why was this done to Indigenous children in Residential Schools? Explain.

For Saul growing his hair was a cultural tradition, a connection to his history..... to his ancestors. Having his hair cut was a source of humiliation..... a disconnection from his culture. Haircuts were a part of expected assimilation and extinction of indigenous culture.
