What happened to Lina?

Lina, a girl from Minerva's school, has an affair with Trujillo and becomes pregnant. Subsequently, Trujillo ships Lina off to the United States (Miami), alone and without family.... presumably for her safety. Note, before she was sent away, Trujillo's wife attacked Lina with a knife.
