Literature review on community participation

I am In the process of writing literature review on community involvement in writing a story of a mission station in South Africa. Mymoderator is suggesting that one of the key sources is Imagined Communities by Benedict Anderson. When I read the book, it does not say much about community involvement. Instead it defines nationalism and sliding closer to community. How do I argue about community using Andrrson's book? How do I equate my definition of community (of villagers church members and family members ) to the one espoused by Anderson?
