Polonius is telling Reynaldo to spy on his son Leartes in France. Polonius's way of finding out information is through rumor and innuendo. He likes to control the information he gets. He likes to interfere in other people's business by getting second hand information of eavesdropping on people rather than merely asking the actual person for the truth.
