Gulliver is the story's narrator; he is an adventurer, he's courageous, but as a person he's a little bit boring. With all of his adventures (and misadventures) we never really find ourselves cheering for him; he's not a hero, and yet he never tries to be either.

By the end of the story we have a man who isn't really likable. He's deserted his family, been taken advantage of by everyone......... yes, Gulliver is gullible. And more than anything, he doesn't like himself.
