How would you justify that friendship and benevolence are the two principal traits among the houyhnhnms?

The Houyhnhnms take Gulliver in and treat him as a guest. They do not believe in war or lying, they are completely unlike any people Gulliver has come into contact with during his voyages. The way the Houyhnhnms live makes Gulliver ashamed of his own people. From this, we can infer that Gulliver is afforded treatment far beyond what he'd ever known or considered.
