When Pip gets home, he gets all weepy about Estella and spills his guts to Herbert. He proclaims his love for Estella but Herbert already knows Pip was obsessed with this girl long ago. Herbert tries to let Pip down easy. He says that he doesn't think they are destined to be together and Miss. H does not plan to see them together. Herbert wisely knows Miss. H is toying with him. Herbert has got it going on. He is sober of thought and reflective.
