jerome morrows character had perfect dna but the movie does not portray him to be perfect.

Perfection itself is a flaw. Perfect DNA does not equate to emotional IQ. Jerome could not handle coming in second in a swim competition. Jerome felt he was imperfect and hence not worthy of life.
