As Padre Blazon says to Dunstan: “If you think her a saint, she is a saint to you. … Who is she? That is what you must discover, Ramezay, and you must find your answer in psychological truth, not in objective truth.” (Part IV, Ch. 3)Our “psychological truth” comes from within. It’s rooted in our perceptions—and our memories—those things that are particular to our experience, which can’t be objective even if we want to believe otherwise. To whom is Padre Blazon referring? What is the context of this discussion he is having with Dunstan?

thank you xx

Dunstan believes that Mary Dempster could be his personal saint. Dunstan internalizes her identity as a saint like figure in his life and later sees her on the battlefield in the form of Mary. Dunstan wants to know if Mary Dempster can be a saint without the power of the Catholic Church to officially recognize her as one.
