What is something Esperanza does not pray for?

Esperanza does not pray for herself. While in the rose garden at the shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Esperanza prays for her mother, her grandmother, Marta, and Marta's mother. From her prayers, we can see that Esperanza is learning to see the world beyond herself. She is learning compassion.
