Do you think Esperanza should have risked her own safety to help Marta?

I think that helping Marta was a part of Esperanza's maturation process. It is an important step because Esperanza is no longer as self-absorbed as she used to be. She has shed her "rich girl" entitlements and shows more empathy to people that may not have been sympathetic to her.
