Ender would find this an accurate statement, as from the time he left for battle school, he has had no control over his own actions. He has been manipulated, lied to, and set up. He trusted the people he believed to be "good" and did their bidding. The fact that he was lied to, and that his actions were not based upon the truth means that he could not have changed anything. He did the best he could.

What is ironic about Valentine’s statement about Peter saving millions of lives?

Answer: It’s ironic because peter had always been the one who wanted to hurt the people and was evil, Peter saved millions of lives by preventing the war, but Ender was the one who killed all the buggers, and actually was trying to keep everyone alive.
