I can't say it better than the author who wrote the article linked below. Faustus will always have appeal because it deals with good and evil; selling one's soul to gain those things we're not meant to possess; losing oneself in the process of attaining those things............. and the old 'be careful what you wish for." These concepts will always have universal appeal (think Lord of the Rings).
