Is Rick stupid ?

He is depicted as not very bright. Or is this only my impression?

The Rosens want to bribe him by offering an owl but only if he would return it upon his death. He declines by pointing out that this would be an invitation to kill him. That makes no sense!!!

Either the protagonist or or P.K. Dick have a problem with logic !!!!

I'm not sure I follow you here. Deckard's replay about the owl is rather witty. He is a noir anti-hero who understands that he is expendable to people like the Rosens.

If the Rosens give him an owl that he has to give back when he dies, then there would be no reason for the Rosen association to keep him alive. They could simply kill him, take the owl back, and have one less bounty hunter on Earth. Perfectly good deal for the Rosens, great comment on the situation by Rick.
