Why might being divergent in this society be considered dangerous?

Being divergent meant that one had choices in a society where the choices are made for you. Thinking for yourself, seeing the entire picture, versatility...... the things we most cherish are seen as a threat. This is a society where the government wants complete control, and the citizens are to follow their lead without question. Questions are seen as threatening..... those who ask questions are dangerous to the system.
