Bernard is around the age of Willy's sons. He is not particularly good looking or was not popular in school. Bernard has, however, evolved into a hard working successful lawyer. Here we have a young man giving advice to Willy. He says that Willy cannot control his sons' destiny. He cannot force them to be something they are not.
