When in the book had Kit shown leadership?

Kit shows leadership qualities throughout the novel, as she takes her future into her own hands. Kit's decision to pretend that she is a boy insures her safety, as long as she can continue the pretense, as she can move around freely... without question. She also shows the traits of a leader when she refuses to leave Peter behind at the mine and returns for him without thinking twice.
