The narrator, Peter, throws a rock directly at Sir Phillip.

Then I was tempted by some devil I couldn't resist; I turned round with a piece of rock in my fist and shied it straight at Sir Philip. I don't think it touched either man or horse, they were travehng too fast, but it made the horse shy, and threw the men behind into temporary confusion.
