I assume you are referring to the poem "The Lover Forsaketh His Unkind Love" which begins with the line "My heart I gave thee. Keep in mind that Wyatt was in love with his cousin Anne Boleyn who became the 2nd wife of King Henry VIII. He served as a diplomat under Henry VIII and was imprisoned twice by the king. His stormy relationship with Boleyn and/or Henry VIII appear to be the subject of this poem.
