What did Manuel do to Buck ?

Manuel was a gardener's helper. He is fond of gambling and has a sizable debt. He steals Buck away from a comfortable life at Judge Miller's place in Santa Clara Valley California. A gold rush is on and sled dogs are in demand. Manuel sells Buck away to men at a railway station who take him to Alaska. Thus begins Buck's wilderness adventure of dog self discovery.
