How does John view London's society?

What is his point of view, what does he think and feel about it?

John views the world through the eyes of a 900 year old author William Shakespeare. He sees London as superficial and soulless. He questions the disposability of everything including emotions. At the same time he is also conflicted by sexual desire. John sees the tragedy but feels alone in his assumptions. John, hence, becomes a shakespearean tragic figure who can not abide by the moral or lack of moral fortitude of the city.
