Born a Crime, Chapter 18

“You want to live in a world where someone is good or bad, where you either hate them or love them, but that’s not how people are.” Explain the context of this quote within the story and make a connection to something outside of the story.

Noah is saying that people can't be labeled simply good and bad. People and situations are often shades of grey. We would like life to be like a Hollywood movie where good and bad are easily identifiable but the real world is not like that. People often do good things for bad reasons and bad things for good reasons. This book is full of flawed characters simply because they are human thrust into difficult circumstances.
