Before the ghost's appearance Scrooge is worried.

Scrooge is emotional when they travel to his childhood home and saddened by the scene at the school.

Fan's appearance brings him joy, and their visit to Fezziwig's does the same.

In the last scene, the ghost brings Scrooge to see Belle..... the love of his life, and the love he gave up for greed and material things. When the ghost shows Scrooge the happy life Belle now has, he begs the ghost to take him away. Scrooge is filled with regret.
