Why does Major want to give a speech? What is the message of his speech?

Major wanted to share a strange dream he'd had with the other animals. He also feels that he is nearing the end of his life and wishes to impart the wisdom he's gathered over the years. Old Major's message is rebellion.... a world in which human oppression is overthrown and animals live freely..... working for themselves.
