Old Major's dream sets forth the ideals of freedom from man, the state of happiness that can be attained after that freedom is established, and the dream of working for themselves..... in having their labor be of benefit to themselves. Man is viewed as the oppressor..... the enemy. Old Major makes it very clear that in order for the animals to ever achieve true happiness, they must overthrow the yoke that man has placed around their necks.
