How did Jones ran the farm?

There is no direct quote, that I recall, that Jones was better or worse for the animals. I think the irony of Napoleon being worse than Jones is implied. Jones ran the farm like a business treating all the animals like animals. Jones was rather lazy and a drunk: Mr. Jones, of the Manor Farm, had locked the hen-houses for the night, but was too drunk to remember to shut the pop-holes.
