how did the inspector goole knew eva smith would die?

Question

the inspector asked the birling's family questions about Eva Smith before she is really found dead, how could that be?

He knows the history of Eva Smith and the Birlings' involvement in it. I thought that Eva had been found dead prior to the interview.
