In what ways does jethro grow during the civil war

Jethro grows as a character. This is truly a coming of age story. Jethro goes from being a naive farm boy infatuated by the illusion of war to a mature adult who sees what war realy is. Jethro has many hurdles along the way, including the death of a family member, and the ever fated loss of innocence at the end of his coming of age.
