What is Gene jealous of?

Gene is jealous os Finny's easy-going personality.... his daring, and his consistent ability to stay out of trouble. Note, he first envies Finny's these things..... the boys are friends. As time goes on, however, Gene comes to resent the very things that made him like Finny to begin with.
