A Long Way Gone

“'It is Shakespeare.' He showed me the cover. 'Julius Caesar. Have you heard of it?'” (p. 104). What do you find jarring or unusual about this reference to Shakespeare in a book such as this?

It's hard to picture Lieutenant Jabati in the midst of war reading Shakespeare. We have to concede, however, that Caesar was a master of war..... likely the attraction.
