Sorry

For Salva, mangoes symbolize the memories with his family. The reason that the taste of the mangoes gave him a memorable moment and a flashback about his family was because he used to eat mangoes with them all the time and how he remembered when his father would bring them home as a treat. They also represented the happier times he had with them which, gave him hope in a sense that he may soon be reunited with them. For example, the text, states that ” As a special treat, his father sometimes bought mangoes. A bag of mangoes was awkward to carry, especially when the bicycle was already loaded with other goods. So he wedged the mangoes into the spokes of his bicycle wheels. When Salva ran to greet him, he could see the green-skinned mangoes spinning gaily in a blur as his father pedaled. Salva would take a mango from the spokes almost before his father had dismounted. “but sucking on his piece of sugar cane reminded Salva of those happier times. He wondered if he would ever again see his father riding a bicycle with mangoes in its spokes. Therefore, the way that the taste of the mangoes and seeing the mangoes made him remember the good times he had with his family, and most importantly it gave him hope or reassurance that he will see them someday. Overall sometimes the smallest things can remind someone and give them a memory moment of wonderful memories of the people they love or miss at the moment and it could be something as small as the wonderful taste of mangoes.
