After Winston is released, why does he come to believe that his memories of his mother might be false, in some way?

Winston's brain is pretty much scrambled eggs by this point. His whole perception of reality has been altered and his perception of his past has been changed. O'Brien has conditioned Winston into questioning his old reality.
