What is the principle of "fundamental fairness" in 12 angry men

I have watched the movie over and over and I still am stuck on this question

I think the idea of fundamental fairness is that people should not be judged by ethnicity or their socio-economic status in life. Many of the Jurors, Like Juror 3, held private biases against the boy base on his cultural and economic background.
