The paradox of the people of the Ooni Kingdom
The people of the Ooni kingdom believe that being a dada is a curse and bad luck for society. When Zahrah is born with dada locks of hair intertwined with live vines, people mark her as a troublemaker. While at school, Zahrah is bullied and called nasty names. There are false superstitious stories about the dada (a child born with dada locks) that they are witches. Ironically, Zahrah is a quiet, good-hearted, and solitary girl who respects everybody and is ready to assist whenever an opportunity arises. Consequently, the beliefs of the Ooni people are false and unfounded because, at last, they realize that Zahrah is a good person.
Breaking the rules
Zahrah is an introvert and a shy girl who strictly follows the rules laid by the society she lives in and looks clean and civilized. Ironically, later in her life, Zahrah breaks the boundaries and rules laid by her civilized society when she enters the forbidden jungle with her daring and adventurous friend, Dari. Unfortunately, the adventure goes wrong when a poisonous snake bites Dari, and no villager is ready to risk their lives to save him. Society restricts anyone from entering the forbidden jungle and whoever risks and disobeys the rules never comes out alive. Therefore, despite Zahrah being an obedient girl who carefully observes rules, she breaks the same rules when she decides to enter the forbidden jungle with Dari.
The satire of adventure
Dari and Zahrah are best friends, and the purpose of the daring adventure when they enter the Forbidden Greeny Jungle is to have fun and make discoveries. Despite the tales about the danger of the jungle, these two characters are optimistic about undertaking this journey and exploring what exists in the dark world. Satirically, the adventure that was intended to be fun turns out to be catastrophic when a poisonous snake bites Dari. Dari is staring at death, and Zahrah has no option but to help him because nobody can dare enter the forbidden jungle.
