The symbolism of obsession with women

The author figuratively uses the 19-year-old man to symbolize women's obsession. The young man follows older women addictively without knowing whether he is doing the right thing or not. Satirically, the young man does not have any specific purpose for following older women wherever they are.

Poverty

Poverty is symbolized by depression and life pressure, as discussed in the story 'Shout.' The middle-aged man only does manual works to provide for his family. Unfortunately, he is not able to meet all the needs of his family. Things at home are as hard as at work. Consequently, the man falls to depression and a mental tornado.

The symbolism of masculinity

Masculinity is symbolized by courage and confidence to face life as a man. In the story ‘Bottoms,’ the protagonist is a man who feels that he is not masculine enough because he lacks courage and confidence. Later, the protagonist starts associating himself with strong men who portray true masculinity.

The symbol of passion

Passion is epitomized by the story of the construction worker in 'Snow.' The protagonist in 'Snow' is a man who is initially a construction worker. Later, he transitions towards his passion which is writing. The protagonist's passion for writing makes him a successful person in his newfound career.

The blue apartment

The blue apartment in the story 'Hueco' symbolizes an impossible adventure. The protagonist in this story is a man who lives in a blue apartment, and his primary mission is finding women who conform to his standards. Unfortunately, the man ends up frustrated because his mission becomes impossible.
