Relationship to Other Books

Consider other works by Thoreau. He wrote several other books that recounting journeys and describing specific locations. A Week on the Concord and Merrimack Rivers details his trip to the White Mountains with his brother in 1839. Much of Thoreau's time at Walden Pond was spent writing that account. Other travel narratives include A Yankee in Canada, Cape Cod, and The Maine Woods.

The theme of nature is also present throughout Thoreau's other literary works: his letters, journals, and poems frequently describe and revere nature.
