The King's Stilts Summary

The King's Stilts Summary

The King's Stilts follows King Birtram of Binn, who is a good and protective king, preoccupied with defending his insecure kingdom. He is disadvantaged by his kingdom's geographical position (it is in low-lying land and is surrounded by high water - high water which doesn't flood the land only because a ring of pike trees). But there's a problem: the pike trees are routinely fed on by a group of animals called the nizzards. And if the nizzards totally destroy the pike barrier, his kingdom will be flooded and thus completely and totally obliterated.

To that end, the King and his men send out a group of Patrol Cats to prevent the destruction of the trees, and thus, the destruction of his kingdom. While not attending to royal duties or taking care of the aforementioned cats, though, the King can be frequently found on stilts in the streets of his kingdom. But a number of high-ranking officials don't like that and one day decide to steal the King's stilts, something which upsets the King greatly.
