The Golden Notebook Lesson Plan

Study Objectives

If all of the elements of this lesson plan are employed, students will develop the following powers, skills, and understanding:

    Students will be able to analyze and practice descriptive writing—both sensory and emotional.

    Students will be able to consider the historical context of a work of literature as well as its contemporary resonances, flaws, and implications.

    Students will be able to evaluate the ways that the different notebooks in the narrative contribute to a full picture of Anna's (and perhaps Lessing's) ideas about writing.
